One of the original great Departments of State, The Home Office has one of the most challenging and important jobs in government: to keep Britain safe and secure. We operate at the heart of the Government’s agenda, leading on immigration and passports, drugs policy, crime policy, counter-extremism and counter-terrorism and work to ensure visible, responsive and accountable policing in the UK. The challenges the Department faces are significant and can change rapidly in the global environment in which we operate, making this one of the most exciting and stimulating government departments in which to work. Operating at significant scale and with extensive reach, we are also rapidly becoming one of the most sophisticated and innovative users of technology and data in the UK.
This is an opportunity to join our fast-paced Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Directorate at a critical time, given the enormity and potential of the current agenda and our commitment to transforming the way in which our technology is designed, built and procured.
As Deputy Director – Immigration Technology, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of a high-profile, challenging and complex technology-enabled business transformation programme that will transform ways of working for some 20,000 users across multiple Home Office Directorates. To do this, you’ll lead and inspire a large, collaborative, blended team of civil servants, suppliers and contractors as the programme evolves, championing a fast-paced culture of innovation and delivery excellence whilst forming exceptional partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders to maintain and maximise the programme’s relevance.
You will be a customer focused, transformative technology leader with a deep understanding of what it takes to design, engineer and run large-scale digital products and services across a spectrum of core technologies and platforms. With a first-class reputation for the agile delivery of high value, innovative technology change initiatives in live, complex, data rich environments, you will be an outstanding and influential leader who operates with commercial acumen, able to inspire external suppliers, partners and internal blended teams to push technology and delivery boundaries to deliver exceptional outcomes, whilst forging excellent internal and external relationships to maximise cooperation, confidence and success.
