One of the original great Departments of State, The Home Office has one of the most challenging and important jobs in government: to keep Britain safe and secure. We operate at the heart of the Government’s agenda, leading on immigration and passports, drugs policy, crime policy, counter-extremism and counter-terrorism and work to ensure visible, responsive and accountable policing in the UK. The challenges the Department faces are significant and can change rapidly in the global environment in which we operate, making this one of the most exciting and stimulating government departments in which to work. Operating at significant scale and with extensive reach, we are also rapidly becoming one of the most sophisticated and innovative users of technology and data in the UK.
This is an opportunity to join our fast-paced Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Directorate at a critical time, given the enormity and potential of the current agenda and our commitment to transforming the way in which our technology is designed, built and procured.
As Deputy Director of Police and Public Protection Technology, you will work in partnership with Police Forces, the Fire Service, agencies and arms-length bodies of the Home Office involved in law enforcement to deliver a range of high value, national police systems that are critical to national infrastructure. To do this you’ll manage a large-scale blended ecosystem of internal teams and strategic delivery partners, helping to digitalise policing through a range of pioneering systems developments that deliver advanced ways of working; notably delivering the country’s first National ANPR Service (NAS).
You will be a transformative technology leader with a deep understanding of the design and engineering of technology systems, services and applications across a spectrum of core technologies, with a first-class reputation for the delivery of high value, innovative technology change projects in complex, data rich, live environments. An outstanding and influential leader who operates with commercial acumen, you will bring gravitas to the Police and Public Protection Technology (PPPT) portfolio, inspiring external suppliers, partners and internal blended teams to push the boundaries to deliver exceptional outcomes to agreed objectives, whilst maximising stakeholder cooperation and confidence through identification and mitigation of risk and exceptional delivery.
