Data is the life-blood of the Home Office and providing the capabilities to use and exploit it effectively is essential to inform policy making and enable operational delivery, whilst ensuring that we are able to meet our statutory obligations.

As Head of Data Services & Analytics, you will be required to provide outstanding leadership to our Data Services Group.  Reviewing and re-focusing priorities and activity, you will ensure that the team builds on its reputation as a forward looking, enabling data services and analysis function that operates at pace in support of the Department.

The Role

  • Define and deliver the plan for the iterative development of our centralatanalyticscapabilitytomeetcurrentandemerginganalyticsneedsacrosstheHomeOffice;

  • Direct and oversee the development of robust, re-usable data products and services in support of greater operational effectiveness and efficiency.Drive commonality and convergence across programmes, data sets, tools and processes;

  • Drive strong and consistent operational performance from the Data Services and Analytics team, defining and embedding customerservicethrough the establishment of appropriate governance and service frameworks in support of a highly responsive and pro-active service;

  • Provide inspiring and coherent leadership to a large team of subject matter experts, ensuring that individuals maintain clear purpose and focus to support and enable a broad range of stakeholders;

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts throughout the Home Office and government to contribute to advancements in our maximization of data analytics capability.

The Person:

  • A strategic thinker and pragmatic operator with experience of having managed and improved a l data analytics function in a regulated, large-scale, complex organisation;

  • Customer service and quality champion, with experience of introducing and embedding re-usable data services and products in support of a broad range of corporate objectives and a first-class user experience;

  • Developmental leader and first-class communicator, able to inspire subject matter experts to perform to an exceptional standard in support of the Department;

  • Collaborative trusted adviser and respected data analytics leader with experience of contributing to enterprise wide data policy, standards and assurance;

  • Appetite for continuous improvement, best practice and customer service excellence.
